| Our pastor is Rev. Carol B. White. This is what she says about herself: | |
My husband Bert and I came to Pinedale in March of 2007. Grandson Cordelle turned four years old in March of 2009. Although he lives in the middle of Kansas with his mother Meghan, he visits Pinedale every summer. Son Andrew is a senior at CSU in Ft. Collins. I enjoy many things, including crafting, traveling and singing. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to be the Mother Abbess in Pinedale Community Theater's 2008 production of "The Sound of Music." I believe that the Bible is God's Word to us, and I preach weekly from a portion of scripture. I try to look at what the original authors meant by what they wrote to the original hearers and then determine what that might mean for us today. Weekly scriptures are chosen primarily from the Common Lectionary. The Lectionary allows us to cover the entire Bible on a three-year rotation schedule. That way I am less likely to get on my personal soapbox or to leave out an important aspect of Christianity because it makes me (or you) uncomfortable. I enjoy the beauty and rhythm of the liturgical church calendar, so our vestments (altar cloths, pulpit scarves, etc.) change accordingly. I am a teacher at heart, so I take advantage of such changes to further educate us about the whens and whys of our symbols and celebrations. I have done ministry on an informal basis my entire life: planning high school MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) retreats; leading college and adult Bible studies; singing in various Christian musical groups; teaching VBS and Sunday School; leading Mothers of Preschoolers; acting as Minister of Singles; serving as a volunteer hospital chaplain; etc. After attending classes at St. Thomas Catholic Seminary, Denver Conservative Baptist Seminary, and Iliff (Methodist) School of Theology, I was ordained June 1st, 1997 at South Suburban Christian Church in Littleton, Colorado. Originally ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), I later obtained Dual Ministerial Ordained Partnership and Standing with the United Church of Christ. I remain in good standing with both denominations. Before moving to Pinedale I pastored the UCC church in Wiggins, Colorado and prior to that, the DOC church in Rocky Ford, Colorado. | |
